Praise for Under a Veiled Moon
“An exceptional sequel to Down a Dark River … Odden never strikes a false note, and she combines a sympathetic lead with a twisty plot grounded in the British politics of the day and peopled with fully fleshed-out characters. Fans of Lyndsay Faye’s Gods of Gotham trilogy will be enthralled.” –Publishers Weekly (Starred Review)

Under a Veiled Moon
Praise for Karen’s Books
This captivating start to a new series offers up a thrilling mystery while also diving deep into questions of justice, mercy, and personal culpability. Odden’s latest is intricately plotted and filled with a cast of wonderful characters, including a worthy and relatable hero. I’m already looking forward to the next installment.
Elizabeth was no shrinking violet and had a fire to her. . . . I would definitely recommend this to any fan of the Victorian era or who just wants a good little mystery to keep them busy for awhile.
One finely dressed dead girl found bound and surrounded by flowers, in a small boat on the Thames, strikes a curious tableau. A second and third could spark panic that our cross-pressured Scotland Yard detective Michael Corravan is determined to avoid. Unfolding in 1878, 10 years before Jack the Ripper terrorized the working women of London and written by an authority in Victorian literature, this story probes similar territory as Hallie Rubenfeld’s Ripper-inspired social history The Five. Period and place are exceptionally well-drawn, from the sights and smells of the city’s most famous natural landmark to the jewelry on the elegant necks of its Mayfair residents to the secrets and boundaries that rule their lives—and provide the key to the killings. I’m Already Looking Forward to the Next!
I would definitely recommend
